VN record book recognizes 100 niche markets

Online Travel Vietnam: The Vietnam Records Book Center (Vietkings) has just recognized 100 specialized markets across the country that major in selling certain goods including bizarre ones like mice, hats and even love.

This is as part of a project called S100 to list 100 tourist destinations, 100 specialized markets and 100 famous markets.

The specialized markets include Tra Thon market (selling straws), Long Binh market (selling field mice) in the southern province of An Giang, and Go Gang market (offering hats) in the central province of Binh Dinh.

Khau Vai and Sa Pa love markets (where youths seek their other halves on a voluntary basis) in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang were also listed.

Last month, the center recorded 100 Vietnamese food specialties. It also plans to seek 200 more food and fruit specialties across the country in an attempt to promote specialties to tourists.

Under the plan, Vietkings will gather opinions from food distributors and exporters in 63 provinces in Vietnam to search for 100 dishes cooked by local people as well as consult fruit research centers in recognizing a further 100 natural specialties.
