Online Travel Vietnam: Domestic air carriers have opened more routes between big cities and islands to meet the growing demand of passengers as more people prefer spending holidays, such as Phu Quoc, Con Dao and Cu Lao Cham.
Mr. Doan Quoc Viet, Chairman of Air Mekong, commented that these islands have great potential for tourism development and, with convenient transportation routes in place, they would attract even more visitors.
The air carrier itself has conducted several flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Con Dao and Phu Quoc islands and the number of passengers taking these flights has increased sharply, especially this summer.
VASCO (Vietnam Air Services Company) since early this month opened flights between Can Tho City to Con Dao Island as many passengers would prefer to fly from Mekong Delta provinces to the island. Mr. Bui Ngoc Hoang, VASCO Director, revealed that his company, a subsidiary of the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, planned to open more flights to the island in the coming time.
Thanks to the opening of more air routes to islands, travel agencies have introduced more tours to potential visitors. According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan, Deputy-Director of Hanoi Red Tour Company, the travel agency can now sell many interesting island tours with cheap prices to its customers.
